Question/User Report: Why can't access any of my networked computers from XP? What happened?
Now there are many many things that could have caused this. The answers to this are listed all up and down search engines like google.com. Get cracking at it LOL! But I came across this one on another site and due to it's unique nature, I thought this would be worth sharing. I don't think that this unique solution would be listed on too many websites.
The users end solution was to do the following:
Under LAN Connection Properties (the Authentication tab) by default it is set to use IEEE 802.1X for network access control with the EAP type set to Smart Card or Certificate. I changed the EAP to MD5-Challenge and now it works fine.
